Prior to social distancing measures having been imposed, I was able to attend the first ever event held by ‘Pile O Pets’ (POP). I would like to tell you about the event and give an overview of POP. This group is new however growing fast and I really look forward to seeing where they go.
POP is a team of Pets who are working together to create kink positive events that are fully inclusive. Everyone is welcome to their events be you a Pet, Furry, Little, general kinkster or anyone else under the Kink umbrella. Naturally POP is 18+ only. They are rooted in Reading, South England however are making great efforts to further their reach by hosting online events too and this team really are doing great things to benefit us all. POP is pushing to promote so much, including but not limited to: networking amongst different kink communities, diversity and inclusion, safe practises in BDSM and safety online. POP also take donations via their online events to raise money for NHS charities (the National Health Service) and Launchpad, a homelessness prevention charity.
March 15th 2020, Pile O Pets debut event
As soon as I heard about this event, I was so impatiently waiting for the weekend to arrive and I was not disappointed. Quite the crowd turned up and it was such a pleasure to meet so many different people and learn more about each community. I got to play with Pups for the 1st time, chasing and being chased, throwing balls, swiping their tails and giving belly rubs. There were so many Pups and their handlers, another Kitten, some Furries, people dressed exquisitely in leather and rubber…I have a weak spot for Rubber! Master and I even met a handler who is experimenting with Dragon animal role-play. Hoods, harnesses, tails and collars everywhere…I felt so at home and so FREE.
The organisers laid down a soft play area with foam floors, balls, Lego, tents and a ball pond; everyone brought along toys, blankets and pillows too. Guests were able to get fully into pet space with like minded people and out of public view in our own private area of the venue. There was plenty of seating and tables, plus an open bar for refreshments and snacks. Each table had a poster on with information about different pet types and Furries etc; they were even kind enough to include a poster about my own group – United Petdom (see scratching posts for more information). Part of the day involved a talk which delved into privacy online and how best to protect ourselves from being discovered by employers, family and friends, if your involvement in Kink is private or could put your job at risk.
Lastly, there was also an event photographer and they had a great system to ensure that only those who consented would be photographed. Upon arrival we were explained the colour coding system where each person wears a lanyard, the colour represents the level of consent. Purple for those who consent to all photography, yellow for those who would only allow photographs when wearing hoods to conceal their identity and red for guests who wanted to opt out of photographs completely.
Entry was just £5 and was well worth the fun that I had that day and connections that I have made. Badges and Key chains were also on sale to raise cash towards future events. I would say that their debut was an absolute success and I eagerly away the next event, post COVID-19!

Pop and United Petdom have common goals and so we have been discussing ways in which we can work together. I am honoured to have been asked to do a talk about Kittenplay for them later this month and will be putting an leaflet together about pet play for POP’s involvement in this summers’ Gloucester pride event.
POP’s Online Events
Pop invite members of the Kink community to host educational talks and allow viewers to ask questions. This helps us to understand one and other, therefore helps with the overarching goal of unity and networking. If you are interesting in sharing your knowledge in certain Kink topics, then I recommend that you reach out, they are an extremely friendly team. Two talks have been held so far and are available to listen to as podcasts via the website. Scheduled talks are biweekly. Previous topics were ‘Identity is diversity’ and ‘History and relevance of fetish titles in today’s online world’- held by none other than Buster, Mr Leather 2019.
Fetish at Pride with Jayjay. Thursday 14th May 7-8pm.
Kitten play with Violet Neko (that’s me!). Thursday 28th May 7-8pm.
POP are also planning talks on fetish writing, inside the porn industry, Furries and rubber wear.
