Pile O Pets – Debut Event post thumbnail

Prior to social distancing measures having been imposed, I was able to attend the first ever event held by ‘Pile O Pets’ (POP). I would like to tell you about the event and give an overview of POP. This group is new however growing fast and I really look forward to seeing where they go.

POP is a team of Pets who are working together to create kink positive events that are fully inclusive. Everyone is welcome to their events be you a Pet, Furry, Little, general kinkster or anyone else under the Kink umbrella. Naturally POP is 18+ only. They are rooted in Reading, South England however are making great efforts to further their reach by hosting online events too and this team really are doing great things to benefit us all. POP is pushing to promote so much, including but not limited to: networking amongst different kink communities, diversity and inclusion, safe practises in BDSM and safety online. POP also take donations via their online events to raise money for NHS charities (the National Health Service) and Launchpad, a homelessness prevention charity.

March 15th 2020, Pile O Pets debut event

As soon as I heard about this event, I was so impatiently waiting for the weekend to arrive and I was not disappointed.  Quite the crowd turned up and it was such a pleasure to meet so many different people and learn more about each community. I got to play with Pups for the 1st time, chasing and being chased, throwing balls, swiping their tails and giving belly rubs. There were so many Pups and their handlers, another Kitten, some Furries, people dressed exquisitely in leather and rubber…I have a weak spot for Rubber!  Master and I even met a handler who is experimenting with Dragon animal role-play. Hoods, harnesses, tails and collars everywhere…I felt so at home and so FREE.

The organisers laid down a soft play area with foam floors, balls, Lego, tents and a ball pond; everyone brought along toys, blankets and pillows too. Guests were able to get fully into pet space with like minded people and out of public view in our own private area of the venue. There was plenty of seating and tables, plus an open bar for refreshments and snacks.  Each table had a poster on with information about different pet types and Furries etc; they were even kind enough to include a poster about my own group – United Petdom (see scratching posts for more information). Part of the day involved a talk which delved into privacy online and how best to protect ourselves from being discovered by employers, family and friends, if your involvement in Kink is private or could put your job at risk.

Lastly, there was also an event photographer and they had a great system to ensure that only those who consented would be photographed. Upon arrival we were explained the colour coding system where each person wears a lanyard, the colour represents the level of consent. Purple for those who consent to all photography, yellow for those who would only allow photographs when wearing hoods to conceal their identity and red for guests who wanted to opt out of photographs completely.

Entry was just £5 and was well worth the fun that I had that day and connections that I have made. Badges and Key chains were also on sale to raise cash towards future events.  I would say that their debut was an absolute success and I eagerly away the next event, post COVID-19!

Who are the POP organisers?

Chairperson – Thumper

Thumper is both a Pup and Bunny who is also active within the leather community and currently working with Gloucester pride.

Secretary – Rec

Pup Rec is a rubber lover with a background in technology. Rec has supported POP in the setting up of their website and behind the scenes running of POP.

Treasurer – Benji

Benji is also a Pup and has a background in Mathematics. Benji is not only the treasurer for POP but also runs the POP twitter account.

Media/Audio technician – Ezra

Ezra is a musical Pup who has been producing EPs and Albums since 2014 and is currently a student in the city of London. His talent not only lies in tech, he also acts as a service pup for shy or new people and gives the best welcomes.

Pop and United Petdom have common goals and so we have been discussing ways in which we can work together. I am honoured to have been asked to do a talk about Kittenplay for them later this month and will be putting an leaflet together about pet play for POP’s involvement in this summers’ Gloucester pride event.

POP’s Online Events

Pop invite members of the Kink community to host educational talks and allow viewers to ask questions.  This helps us to understand one and other, therefore helps with the overarching goal of unity and networking. If you are interesting in sharing your knowledge in certain Kink topics, then I recommend that you reach out, they are an extremely friendly team. Two talks have been held so far and are available to listen to as podcasts via the website. Scheduled talks are biweekly. Previous topics were ‘Identity is diversity’ and ‘History and relevance of fetish titles in today’s online world’- held by none other than Buster, Mr Leather 2019.

Upcoming talks:

Fetish at Pride with Jayjay. Thursday 14th May 7-8pm.

Kitten play with Violet Neko (that’s me!). Thursday 28th May 7-8pm.

POP are also planning talks on fetish writing, inside the porn industry, Furries and rubber wear.

@VioletNeko, you are quite the writer! This article was great because I don’t think we have a pet play community here in the US, but rather several separate groups that will sometimes come together at certain kink fetishes or different cons. This is something that might be able to be introduced here.

There aren’t many but there are enough for pets here to meet monthly the most know is ‘Pup out’ which also allows all pet types. I think it started for pups but inevitably evolved. If you are able to, or know some one who can, I would recommend starting something , it was a great day but also useful in building connections with other people in the community and meeting other pets face to face .

@VioletNeko. That would definitely give me something to get involved with. I think I may know a few of the individual group leaders that I might be able to talk to about rallying together to join either their pup litter or phony remudas together.

        1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

That would be awesome ! I think we all have so much to gain from each other and interaction between the different pet types can be quite interesting . I would be intrigued to see pups around ponies; seeing pups around furries is quite endearing, and littles around just about all pets!

I remember when I saw the first post go up and was so sad I couldn’t go! It looks like so much fun, and a great way to connect with others- especially if you’re nervous, like me! Wonderful article !

It really was a brilliant day, the time flew and I did not want to leave. They were so welcoming.

I’d love to go in the future, we should arrange it with the other UK kittens!

        1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

Definitely! I am currently arranging an event for October. I’m hoping to have an agility courses, music, bar, craft area for pets who struggle to socialise (that was @TiffanyBelle great idea) and maybe a vendor or two. I’ve reserved a menu next to a very affordable travel lodge so hopefully if its a bit of a journey anyone, they have some where just 2 mins away to stay

  3. Sounds like this was so much fun!

  4. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

It really was, perhaps with a future event we can take our uk sisters and overrun the place with kittens 🙂

Omg I LOVE THIS! This sounds like such an amazing place. Most conventions or gathering are so expensive here. And the colored based consent lanyards is such an amazing idea! I’ll definitely be checking everything out.

    1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

That is such a shame that people can not meet due to the expense. Here the events are inexpensive but very far apart and so the cost or travel can be an issue . There is another new event called Pet Play Park which is about 4 hours from me but I am looking to see if I can arrange a care share and air bnb for a few Kittens- that event is held in a dungeon where you have access to all of the facilities !

We have a similar thing to me locally! It’s ran by our Mr. Boot Black 2019 and our Mr. Leather is a common guest! Since I’ve joined a lot of more kittens have been a regular to the event <3 I'm so proud of our little group and that you're able to explore/teach as well!

    1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

I am so pleased to jear that! A lot of people always say how there’s not alot for them in their areas. Overall there’s not much but if you look, particularly on fetlife, you can often find something, especially if ur willing to travel a bit. Alot of kittens here are starting to attend pup events and they’re doing a good job of welcoming us

  7. Kiurym Kiurym says:

Exactly! I plan on eventually opening a kitten chapter locally to meetup for tea/lounging/etc…and inviting other pets for fun times!

    1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

YES! I can not wait to hear more about this x

That’s so amazing! Sounds like a lovely time I would love to attend to one of these. It sounds like kink at tracks in denver

    1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

Should you ever be in the UK , get in touch. It would be lovely to meet more of my international sisters and attend some fun things together

    1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

I thought so! I really hope that everything gets back on track when Covid ends and there will be a regular schedule of face to face events.

      1. Agreed! They can’t ask stop, right?

        1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

fingers crossed! I they’re still working hard at online things while we are isolating, so I think as soon as covid is no longer a threat hey will be going full steam ahead x

          1. Sorry, I use swipe text which always makes all into ask. I meant they can’t stop them all*. I think it’s great how many events have adapted to being online, but many of us look forward to in person gatherings, again.

            1. VioletNeko VioletNeko says:

Absolutely! Everyone has done such a great job at working with the situation, it shows just how creative an resourceful our communities can be <3 I am looking forward to face to face events more than anything right now x<3
